Caledonia County Probate Judge William Cobb was suspended from his judicial post in 2022 after Vermont's Professional Responsibility Board found he violated five rules of professional conduct in his separate work as a practicing attorney — including improperly disclosing confidential juvenile court records and failing to provide competent representation to a client — and revoked his law license for 15 months.
Cobb was separately investigated by the Vermont Judicial Conduct Board over allegations that he misled Disciplinary Counsel during that ethics investigation. Cobb admitted to the violations, and in a stipulation signed by the Board's chair on December 15, 2023 and approved by the Vermont Supreme Court on January 4, 2024, he agreed to never again serve as a judicial officer in Vermont.
