Sue Carol Browning, a district judge for Logan and Todd Counties, Kentucky for 20 years, was suspended without pay for 15 days in 2007 by the state's Judicial Conduct Commission after incorrectly denying bail to 17 Hispanic defendants in 2006 and asking federal authorities to investigate their immigration status — holding them in jail indefinitely as a result. The Commission's suspension ran from April 28 through May 12, 2007.
Browning retired from the bench at the end of her term in January 2015, having not sought re-election in 2014.
