Published: April 21, 2026
Leward LaFleur, a Marion County, Texas judge, is facing allegations that he groped a 14-year-old girl and, separately, an adult at a 2025 Halloween party. The girl's parents filed a complaint alleging she was grabbed and groped as she walked past LaFleur at the party; a second allegation later surfaced from an adult who says LaFleur touched them in an unwanted, sexual manner at the same event.
After Marion County District Attorney Tim Cariker recused himself from the case, it was referred to the Morris County District Attorney, who found no legal basis to pursue felony indecent assault charges; the case was then moved to Jefferson to proceed as a misdemeanor. A visiting judge was appointed to handle the case given LaFleur's own position on the bench. LaFleur has denied all of the accusations, and his attorney has questioned the timing of the adult's allegation, which surfaced months after the alleged incident.
