Bradford County Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox, who had served on the bench in Troy since 2000, pursued an inappropriate personal relationship with a defendant appearing in his own court — and interfered with that defendant's case, according to Pennsylvania's Judicial Conduct Board. The Board's case includes 91 pages of screenshotted text messages between Wilcox and the defendant, and charges him with more than 30 separate counts of misconduct.
The Pennsylvania Supreme Court suspended Wilcox without pay in November while the investigation proceeded. Rather than contest the charges, Wilcox resigned in March 2026, notifying both the Chief Justice and the Governor of his decision to step down.
