Public Admonishment of Wendy M. Harris
California Commission on Judicial Performance
Published: August 29, 2023
Wendy M. Harris, a court commissioner at the Riverside County Superior Court since 2019, was publicly admonished by the California Commission on Judicial Performance on August 29, 2023, for rudeness, contentiousness, impatience, and disparaging conduct toward litigants. The Commission's findings arose from Harris's handling of two consecutive hearings involving a child custody dispute and a domestic violence restraining order request, in which she was found to have been discourteous, argumentative, impatient, and demeaning toward the parties in both proceedings.
The Commission found Harris violated nine separate judicial canons, and that she became excessively personally involved in the proceedings in a way that compromised the integrity of the court process. Harris is no longer employed by the court.
