Brett M. Waronicki, a Circuit Judge for Florida's 19th Judicial Circuit, was arrested on April 23, 2025, on charges of DUI and possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop in Martin County. The stop followed weeks of complaints that Waronicki had been involved in drug activity at a bar in Jensen Beach. During the stop, he displayed signs of intoxication including bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, and the smell of alcohol on his breath; his two passengers were separately arrested on cocaine-related charges.
Waronicki resigned his elected judgeship effective May 9, 2025, in a letter to Governor Ron DeSantis. On May 27, 2025, he was arrested again — this time at the Martin County jail itself — on a felony charge of cocaine possession.
