Conroe judge arrested for DWI, arrested three times before
Click2Houston (KPRC)
Published: December 12, 2025
William Waggoner, a Conroe, Texas judge, has a documented history of alcohol-related legal trouble spanning nearly a decade. Following a 2017 DWI case, he was ordered into Veterans Court — a specialized program for veterans with substance-abuse or mental-health issues — in August 2018, but was re-arrested that November after violating his probation conditions with a positive alcohol test.
In December 2025, Waggoner was arrested again, this time on new charges of DWI and unlawfully carrying a weapon; newly released bodycam footage from that arrest captured him telling officers, "I am the judge." Waggoner publicly stated "I had a bad day" following the arrest, continued campaigning while facing the charge, and avoided answering questions about his criminal history at a campaign event in January 2026. He pleaded guilty to the December 2025 DWI charge in March 2026.
