Tracy E. Green, a Wayne County, Michigan Third Circuit Court judge since 2019, was publicly censured and suspended without pay for six months after the Judicial Tenure Commission found she covered up evidence of child abuse involving her own son and grandsons. Green acknowledged she knew her son had slapped one of her grandsons hard enough to leave at least a partial handprint mark, and admitted she used makeup to cover the mark.
The Commission also found she made false statements about how much she knew about the abuse. The Judicial Tenure Commission had recommended Green be removed from the bench entirely, but a divided Michigan Supreme Court imposed the lesser sanction of censure and a six-month suspension instead, allowing her to remain a judge once the suspension concluded.
