Alabama judge who was suspended twice and convicted of violating judicial ethics resigns
Alabama Daily News
Published: November 28, 2023
Jefferson County Circuit Judge Tracie Todd was found guilty by the Alabama Court of the Judiciary of violating judicial ethics rules — abusing her judicial power and failing to remain a neutral party on the bench. Among the conduct at issue: Todd questioned an attorney under oath about whether he had donated to her opponent's campaign during her original 2012 election.
This wasn't Todd's first discipline. The Judicial Inquiry Commission had already suspended her from the bench in 2021 after filing a complaint against her running more than 100 pages. Following the Court of the Judiciary's guilty finding in October 2022, she was suspended without pay for 120 days — her second suspension. Todd resigned from the bench effective December 6, 2023.
