Tim Henderson, an Oklahoma County District Court judge since 2012, resigned from the bench in 2021 after three female attorneys accused him of sexual misconduct. Separately, an undisclosed sexual relationship between Henderson and a prosecutor who appeared before him came to light, and it forced a retrial for a defendant who had been sentenced to life for murder — the case had to be reopened because Henderson's relationship with the prosecuting attorney compromised the fairness of the original proceeding.
The Oklahoma Bar Association sought disciplinary action against Henderson over the misconduct. In October 2023, rather than face the disciplinary proceedings, Henderson resigned his Bar membership — a move the Oklahoma Supreme Court treats as equivalent to disbarment, though he may apply for reinstatement after five years if he complies with the Bar's conditions. His conduct on the bench has since called hundreds of his prior cases into question, with at least two additional convictions overturned as a result.
