Georgia Magistrate Larry Bain Resigns and Agrees to Never Hold Public Office Again After Ethics Investigation
Northwest Georgia News (Calhoun Times)
Published: February 01, 2023
Larry Bain, an associate judge on the Gordon County (Calhoun, Georgia) Magistrate Court, resigned effective February 1, 2023, after Georgia's Judicial Qualifications Commission found reasonable cause that he had made "inappropriate and undignified remarks to a colleague regarding how he intended to handle an issue with another courthouse employee." The JQC's investigation also found Bain had fallen short of the training hours required for magistrate judges and had been living in Tennessee while sitting on a Georgia court, both violations of state law.
As a condition of his resignation, Bain agreed not to seek, request, or accept any elected or appointed office, position, or status in the future. Governor Brian Kemp accepted the resignation.
