Steve B. Dixon Admonished

Steve B. Dixon, an Adams County Superior Court judge, was admonished by the Washington State Commission on Judicial Conduct after using profane language following a June 2021 telephonic hearing in a Whitman County case where he was presiding as a visiting judge. Dixon believed the call had ended and he was no longer on the line with the parties, but the phone connection, both attorneys, and the official audio recording were all still active. The losing attorney believed the comment was directed at him. Dixon realized what had happened shortly afterward, called both attorneys to address it directly, and self-reported the incident to the Commission himself. He told investigators the outburst wasn't aimed at either attorney but was an expression of relief that the hearing had concluded. The Commission's admonishment consisted of a letter placed in his judicial file, with no further discipline imposed.
