Broward judge faces public reprimand over political donations tied to Kamala Harris, Biden
CBS Miami
Published: July 30, 2025
Stefanie C. Moon, a Broward County Circuit Court judge, was suspended for 10 days without pay, fined $2,115.40, and ordered to appear for a mandatory public reprimand before the Florida Supreme Court, following findings from the Judicial Qualifications Commission of inappropriate campaign activity, prohibited ex parte communication, and prohibited political contributions. While presiding from the bench in her judicial robe, Moon asked an attorney who had just finished a hearing before her why he hadn't returned her call about joining her re-election committee. The Commission also found Moon improperly contacted the therapist of a man whose mental health was at issue in a pending case, and made prohibited political contributions to committees supporting Kamala Harris, Joe Biden, and ActBlue, the Democratic Party's fundraising platform. This was not Moon's first brush with judicial ethics rules — the Commission had already cautioned her in 2019 for similar improper campaign activity.
