Ex-Allegheny County judge Anthony Saveikis barred from ever serving on the bench
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
Published: November 08, 2024
Allegheny County Magisterial District Judge Anthony Saveikis pursued inappropriate personal contact with teenage boys on at least three occasions between 2018 and 2022, according to facts he himself stipulated to before Pennsylvania's Court of Judicial Discipline. In one instance, he took the hand of a 17-year-old at a local restaurant, asked him personal questions, and followed him into a walk-in freezer, touching his shoulders, arms, and back — leaving the boy feeling, in his own account, "very vulnerable." In a second instance, Saveikis sought out a 14-year-old boy — whose case he was actively presiding over — at the boy's workplace at a local fair. He took the teenager to lunch without parental permission and walked with him arm in arm. The Court of Judicial Discipline found this conduct brought disrepute to the office and failed to promote confidence in the judiciary. Saveikis had already been on leave for more than a year before formally stepping down in January. The court ordered that his resignation and pledge never to serve as a judge again are "binding and irrevocable." No criminal charges were ever filed. Separately, in September 2024, after his resignation, Saveikis was charged with DUI and careless driving following a three-vehicle crash in Pittsburgh, with a reported blood alcohol content of .170%; that case remains pending.
