Kathleen Robichaud Censured Removed

Kathleen L. Robichaud, a judge of the Rensselaer City Court in Rensselaer County, New York since 1996, resigned effective no later than May 17, 2024, while under investigation by the State Commission on Judicial Conduct for the third time. The Commission's findings included that Robichaud failed to renew her attorney registration, failed to update a personal email address that still displayed her judicial title, failed to file her required 2021 financial disclosure statement, made prohibited political contributions, and — perhaps most significantly — failed to comply with the terms of an agreement she had previously signed to settle an earlier 2022 disciplinary case. That 2022 case had itself resulted in censure, after the Commission found Robichaud used her judicial position to help her niece's boyfriend. As part of her 2024 resignation, Robichaud agreed to never seek or hold judicial office again.
