Reginald Johnson Removed

Reginald J. Johnson, a judge on the Peekskill City Court in Westchester County, New York since 2014, resigned effective September 30, 2024, after the State Commission on Judicial Conduct formally charged him with numerous acts of misconduct. The charges included dismissing 11 traffic tickets based on his personal relationships with the defendants or people close to them, directing sexual innuendos and other inappropriate remarks at court staff and attorneys, touching or caressing a co-judge's arm without her permission while making offensive comments to her, berating and screaming at court staff, and engaging in an unauthorized ex parte communication with a government official about a pending criminal matter. As part of his resignation, Johnson agreed never to attempt to return to judicial office.
