Retired Fresno Judge Adolfo Corona Federally Charged With Sexually Assaulting Two Court Employees and Covering It Up
U.S. Department of Justice
Published: August 22, 2025
Adolfo Corona, a retired Fresno County Superior Court judge, was indicted by a federal grand jury on five counts, including deprivation of rights under color of law tied to alleged sexual assault, making false statements, and obstruction. Federal prosecutors say that in December 2023, while still on the bench, Corona sexually assaulted a judicial assistant roughly 23 years his junior, leaving her passed out with her pants unbuttoned in his judicial chambers. Prosecutors say that in March 2024, he assaulted a second judicial assistant, more than 30 years his junior, in a courthouse stairwell.
The indictment further alleges Corona made false statements to investigators during two separate interviews and attempted to falsify records to construct an alibi. Corona has pleaded not guilty; a federal judge denied his motion to dismiss the charges in February 2026, allowing the case to move forward. If convicted, he faces up to 40 years in prison on the sexual assault count and up to 20 years on each obstruction count.
