Millie Thompson Admonished

Millie Thompson, a former Hays County, Texas County Court at Law judge, was publicly admonished by the State Commission on Judicial Conduct for creating a hostile work environment within weeks of taking office in January 2021. According to the Commission's findings, Thompson began yelling at a court employee and told him to get out of her office; when he responded, she got up from her desk, walked toward him, pointed her finger, and repeatedly yelled "Get out, get out." The Commission also found she excessively recused herself from cases without a valid legal basis. Thompson later changed the locks to her office and barred other judges and staff from entering, and filed a lawsuit against her fellow Hays County judges amid the escalating dispute. She resigned from the bench in May 2021, cutting her term short, well before the Commission's admonishment was formally issued years later.
