Oklahoma Judge Kassie McCoy Resigned After a DUI Arrest While on the Bench, Then Was Arrested Again for DUI a Year Later on Deferred Probation
News On 6 (KOTV)
Published: February 08, 2021
Kassie McCoy was a sitting Associate District Judge for Oklahoma's Twelfth Judicial District (Rogers County) when she was arrested on February 7, 2021, and charged with DUI and actual physical control of a vehicle while under the influence, with a blood alcohol content of .35. She pleaded guilty on May 7, 2021, receiving a three-year deferred sentence, and resigned from the bench within days. Less than a year later, on April 8, 2022 — while still under that deferred sentence — McCoy was arrested for DUI again, this time in Mesa County, Colorado, with a blood alcohol content of .186. Then in June 2024, she was arrested a third time, in Ottawa County, Oklahoma, on complaints of DUI and leaving the scene of a crash after fleeing a collision in a Taco Bell drive-thru lane; she reportedly told the arresting officer she "would have his job because she was a judge in Rogers County," invoking an office she had not held in three years. The Oklahoma Supreme Court, citing her original 2021 DUI and the 2022 Colorado violation of her probation, suspended her law license for two years, with reinstatement conditioned on completing her Oklahoma and Colorado probationary requirements.
