New York Judge Melissa Loehr Admonished for Fixing a Colleague's Daughter's Ticket and Invoking Her Own Title to Help Her Daughter
NY Daily Record
Published: April 14, 2025
Melissa A. Loehr, now a Westchester County Court judge, was admonished by the New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct for misconduct in two separate traffic cases while she was still a Peekskill City Court judge. In March 2018, the Commission found, Loehr dismissed a traffic ticket issued to a fellow judge's daughter — without disclosing that relationship, or that the defendant was also a friend of Loehr's own daughter. The second incident predated that one: in January 2017, after Loehr's own daughter received a traffic ticket in the town of Cortlandt, Loehr personally called that court on her daughter's behalf and told the deputy court clerk, unprompted, "I don't know if you know, I'm the judge in Peekskill."
