New York Judge Julie Kuck Resigns After Felony DWI Arrest With a Child Passenger in the Car
ABA Journal
Published: July 15, 2024
Julie M. Kuck, a justice of the Lindley Town Court in Steuben County, New York, was suspended by the New York Court of Appeals after being charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child under 15 in the vehicle — a felony under New York's Leandra's Law — following a June 14 traffic stop. She also faced misdemeanor charges of driving while intoxicated and operating a vehicle with a blood-alcohol content over .08%. The State Commission on Judicial Conduct recommended she remain suspended with pay while the criminal case was pending. The case ultimately concluded with Kuck's resignation from the Lindley Town Court, announced by the Commission on February 3, 2025; as part of her resignation, Kuck agreed to never accept or seek judicial office again.
