Linda D. Kirby

Linda D. Kirby, a judge on Kansas's Eighteenth Judicial District Court, was issued a cease and desist order by the state Commission on Judicial Conduct after failing to rule on a motion to reconsider in a divorce case for months. Kirby had entered a memorandum of judgment and decree of divorce in September 2021; after a hearing on a motion to reconsider that ruling in November 2021, she still had not issued a decision by the time a complaint was filed against her in April 2022. The Commission found Kirby violated the Code of Judicial Conduct's requirement that judges perform their duties competently and diligently, specifically by failing to hear and decide matters assigned to her court. It ordered her to cease and desist from continuing to fail to decide pending matters.
