Third District Judge William Kendall was charged with forcible sexual abuse, distributing a controlled substance, and drug possession following a February gathering at his own home. According to the charges, Kendall provided recreational THC to at least one female participant, and a second woman said Kendall inappropriately touched one of the women without her consent. Kendall resigned the day after Utah's House Speaker announced lawmakers would consider impeachment proceedings if he remained on the bench. He later pleaded guilty in abeyance to reduced misdemeanor charges -- sexual battery and marijuana distribution. Under the plea, the charges will be dismissed in 18 months rather than entered as formal convictions, provided he avoids further law violations, has no contact with the victim, writes a written apology, and continues counseling.
