Jessica Byrne Removed

Jessica Byrne, a justice of the New Lebanon Town Court in Columbia County, New York, resigned on July 29, 2024, after being notified of a State Commission on Judicial Conduct investigation that had begun that March. The investigation covered four separate complaints: that Byrne dismissed traffic tickets issued to her own relatives; that she retaliated against a former court clerk after the clerk cooperated with the Commission's inquiry; that she made inappropriate comments about a local dog control officer involved in a case pending before her; and that she intervened in a separate matter involving that officer's spouse despite having already disqualified herself from it. Byrne agreed, in a stipulation the Commission accepted on September 17, 2024, to never seek or accept judicial office in New York again. She admitted no wrongdoing as part of the resolution.
