Texas Justice of the Peace Jason Dunn Admonished for Using His Judicial Facebook Pages to Advertise His Wife's Bar and Repost a Trump Campaign Photo
Texas State Commission on Judicial Conduct
Published: June 16, 2025
The Texas State Commission on Judicial Conduct publicly admonished Montgomery County Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace Jason Dunn after finding he and his staff used his official and personal Facebook pages -- both of which identify him as a sitting judge -- to advertise local businesses, promote fundraisers, and publicize free food and gifts he accepted from local organizations. Among the posts cited was a September 2022 video advertising a fundraiser at Dunn Right Waterin' Hole, a bar co-owned by his own wife. The Commission also found Dunn had reposted a campaign photo endorsing President Trump on the same judicial pages. It concluded his conduct violated the Texas Code of Judicial Conduct by lending the prestige of his office to advance private interests, casting doubt on his impartiality, accepting gifts, and soliciting funds for outside organizations. As part of the order, Dunn was required to complete two hours of additional education specifically on judges and social media, on top of his regular annual judicial training.
