Washington Judge Jenifer Howson Admonished for Taking Nearly Two Years to Decide Small Claims Cases
Washington State Commission on Judicial Conduct
Published: June 24, 2022
The Washington State Commission on Judicial Conduct admonished Skagit County District Court Judge Jenifer G. Howson after she stipulated that she violated the Code of Judicial Conduct's requirements to comply with the law and dispose of judicial matters promptly. The Commission found Howson delayed decisions in three small claims cases: one heard on March 2, 2020 wasn't decided until February 8, 2022 -- nearly two years later -- while the other two took between four and thirteen months to decide. The Commission ordered Howson to promptly review the Code of Judicial Conduct as part of the admonishment.
