Nassau County Judge William Hohauser Resigns After Repeating the Same Inappropriate Comments He'd Already Been Warned About
NYS Commission on Judicial Conduct
Published: June 16, 2025
Nassau County District Court Judge William Alan Hohauser agreed to resign amid a New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct investigation into numerous offensive and inappropriate remarks he made to Nassau County assistant district attorneys and a court employee between February 2023 and May 2024. The Commission had already privately cautioned Hohauser in May 2022 for making inappropriate remarks to attorneys -- the conduct under investigation this time happened despite that warning. As part of his resignation, effective at the end of 2025, Hohauser agreed never to return to judicial office. He was also ordered to complete civility and professionalism training through the Office of Court Administration and will no longer be assigned to criminal cases.
