Texas Judge Grace Uzomba Reprimanded for Letting a DWI Defendant Skip Out on Supervision Conditions
Texas State Commission on Judicial Conduct
Published: August 22, 2024
Grace M. Uzomba, a judge on Bexar County, Texas's County Court at Law No. 2, was publicly reprimanded by a Special Court of Review on August 22, 2024, which found by a preponderance of the evidence that she violated Article V, Section 1-a(6)(A) of the Texas Constitution and multiple canons of the Texas Code of Judicial Conduct. The case involved Dario E. Davis, who pleaded no contest to driving while intoxicated in February 2018 and was placed on two years of community supervision by Uzomba. The State Commission on Judicial Conduct found that once Uzomba became aware the State had refused to obtain an arrest warrant or file a motion to revoke Davis's community supervision for violations, she failed to comply with the law and demonstrated professional incompetence, ultimately allowing Davis to simply leave the court's supervision without proper legal action.
