Tom Gillam III Removed

Tom Gillam III, the Justice of the Peace for Jefferson County Precinct 8 in Beaumont, Texas, resigned his judicial seat on October 2, 2024 — one day before a felony official-oppression charge against him was dismissed by state prosecutors. The charge, filed in August 2023 based on a 2023 grand jury indictment, stemmed from a former employee's allegation that Gillam made unwelcome sexual advances toward her and subjected her to sexual harassment in June 2022. As part of the negotiated agreement, prosecutors dropped the charge and Gillam was not required to admit any guilt — but he agreed to resign immediately and never seek election to, or serve in, judicial office in Texas again, a lifetime disqualification.
