Nevada Judge Michele Fiore Was Convicted of Stealing Donations Meant to Honor a Murdered Police Officer — Spending Them on Plastic Surgery and Her Daughter's Wedding
Las Vegas Review-Journal
Published: October 03, 2024
Michele Fiore solicited more than $70,000 in donations meant to fund a memorial statue for Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Officer Alyn Beck, who was murdered in the line of duty in 2014 — and spent the money on herself instead. A federal jury convicted her in October 2024 of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and six counts of wire fraud, finding that the donations went toward her rent, plastic surgery, and payments on her daughter's wedding rather than the statue donors believed they were funding. At trial, prosecutors argued Fiore "used a tragedy to line her pockets," pointing specifically to the plastic-surgery spending as evidence the money never came close to the purpose she'd raised it for. She faced up to 140 years in prison across the seven counts. The Nevada Commission on Judicial Discipline suspended her from the bench — first without pay, following the conviction. In April 2025, before she was sentenced, President Trump granted Fiore a full and unconditional pardon, erasing the criminal penalty. The pardon did not end the matter on the judicial-discipline side: Nevada's Commission on Judicial Discipline kept its investigation open, taking the position that the pardon didn't relieve her of an independent legal duty to return the misused donations to the people who gave them, and in May 2026 filed formal charges against her on three separate judicial code violations. The Nevada Supreme Court has since unanimously upheld her suspension — now with pay — while that case proceeds. She remains suspended and has filed to run for re-election to the seat.
